Every once and awhile my old Yahoo group gets cracking again and I'm reconnected with those ladies who made such a HUGE difference in my lonely first days in Deutschland.
These were the gals who taught me mail art. These were the women who explained what ATCs and 4x4s were. These were the ladies who sent amazing handmade cards and treasures when my son was born. These were the friends who I've never met in real life ('cept Julie) but somehow became friends in this crazy place: the internet-iverse! I probably wouldn't be doing what I do now if we hadn't crossed paths and exchanged our craftiness, ideas and energy.
We've all been missing our old pal Kelli so Andrea from Found-Art hosted a postcard swap in her honor. Just a little something to bring smiles to one another by post. Some of the ladies still visit me on my blog, some pop up in Facebook. Each time I'm so happy to see their handles that end in words like "polyester" and I shake my head how lucky I am to have such terrific connections in my life. Check out their beautiful postcards that I got!
And here is where I confess to making really crappy color copies for this swap because I was right smack in the middle of a hundred other things when this took place. But this is exactly why I love this group. They're all just great. Not once has anybody saw my contribution and demanded I shape up or ship out. These ladies let kids in on the trades and they simply encourage each other to be creative. Because they know it's more important to connect than to worry about "who made the best" stuff. They rock!
Linda "Hanai", the 2 Andreas (don't forget Beanie McMouse), Julie aka "Jazz Pixie," Lily, Lisa, Dawn K, Mary, Ash, Lee, and the whole ABY tribe... I love you guys!!
