This mixed media piece consists of:
watercolor, Crayon, Bavarian tablecloth pieces, water-soluble oil pastel, color photocopies, construction paper, sewn photographs, staples, lino cut prints, acrylic paint, doodles and handwriting on gesso'd canvas.
The little airplanes are my own photographs taken from my rooftop terrace when I lived beneath the approach to runway 3 at Heathrow airport. Every other element besides the Bavarian tablecloth are enlargements of my own photography.
This canvas is my expression of how much I idealized London and how often I had to leave the city (and eventually leave permanently) in order to cope with living there. Here is an older post summarizing how all my creative endeavors went wrong during my years in England.
